There are 3 different types of sports massage treatments.
Pre-event, Maintenance, and Post-event.
A Pre-event treatment uses techniques that are designed to stimulate the muscles and tissues, to safely prepare the body for physical exertion.
A Post-event treatment is performed up to 72 hours after completion of a strenuous event and uses techniques designed to calm muscles, remove lactic acid and metabolic waste and increase blood flow to muscle tears.
A Maintenance treatment focuses on reducing muscle tensions and stresses that can lead to training injuries and is recommended at least once a month for someone who engages in regular physical activity. This is a deep and intensive treatment that is tailored to the athlete's individual requirements.
If you suffer from muscle tension, tightness and aches, then a deep tissue massage is what you need. This treatment uses techniques aimed to reach deeper layers of muscle tissue, to breakdown knots, adhesions and scar tissue that can lead to soreness. This treatment is also beneficial for releasing chronic muscle tension, easing muscle spasms, easing anxiety and lowering blood pressure. A Postural assessment and bespoke exercise plan is included.
Stress, wear and tear, poor posture, sitting for long periods etc. can all lead to tight and tense muscles in our back, neck and shoulders. During this treatment pressure is applied to muscles in these areas to increase the oxygen flow in the blood, releasing toxins and tension, to bring comfort and relief.
Pregnancy changes a woman's centre of gravity and additional stress is placed on the back, neck, shoulders and abdominal muscles. Pregnancy also relaxes ligaments, causing the pelvic joints to be less stable and changes the posture by pulling the pelvis forward. This treatment is customised to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies and aims to relax tight muscles, ease pain and improve circulation and mobility.
Working at a computer, using a mobile phone etc can lead to a weakening of the neck muscles, rounding of the shoulders and tightening of the upper back muscles. During this treatment warming balm is applied to these muscles and specific massage techniques are carried out, to relax the muscles and help breakdown knots and adhesions. Postural analysis and Bespoke exercises to help correct posture are included.
